Archaeology

• Archaeologists chose sites from old ruins, aerial photographs, rescue archaeology, pure accident
• Stratigraphy: the deeper in the ground the object is found, the older it is
• Carbon dating: the less carbon there is on the object, the older it is
• Dendrochronology: the amount of rings on the tree determines how many years old it is
• Example of primary sources are a diary, letter, speech, census, audio recording
• Examples of secondary sources are textbooks, documentary’s, biography
• an archaeologist excavates sites in order to find artefacts and date them whilst historians will work with visual or written sources
