• 'Son of man' title may have been used by Jesus to avoid getting into trouble - suggests he is a normal human
• Uses it in a way that is interchangeable with God 


  e/g 'you will see the son of man seated at the right hand of power'
• Son of man and son of god therefore may be used as equivalent titles
