• Mechanical digestion breaks down food physically using teeth or muscular contractions.
• Chemical digestion involves enzymatic reactions breaking down complex molecules into simpler ones.
• Digested products are absorbed by cells lining the gut wall and transported to other parts of the body via the bloodstream.
• Waste products such as undigested material and water are eliminated through defecation (feces) and urination (urine).
