MAPEH 3RD MID (PE)

• Volleyball - Invented by William G. Morgan in 1895 in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
• William named the game Mintonette.
• Dr. Alfred Halstead eventually changed its name to Volleyball due to the way the players hit the ball.
• Volleyball - 6 players with the objectives of landing the ball into the opponent's court to gain a point or a score
• Each team is allowed to have three touches to rally the ball over the opponent's court
• To win the game, a team should reach 25
• Center line - it is the division of the volleyball court into two equal space of a meter each.
• Attack line - it is the line dividing each team's court into two space
• ATTACK LINE

  • The front part measure 3 meter known as the front line of attack line
• 2.43 meter for men on the net of volleyball

  2.24 for women on the net
• Pass - an act to properly receive the opponent's service of spike
• two antennas, 9 meter apart and 80cm each in height, are attached to the net
• The ball


  -Is made up of flexible or synthetic leathers and inside is a bladder made up of rubber.
• THE BALL

  • it is spherical measuring diameter of 20.7-21.3 and a circumference of 65-67 centimeter or 26 inches and weight between 260-280 grams.

• Underhand service


  -The act of serving the ball by hitting it below the waist level.it is done by tossing the ball before hitting it w/an arm low with an upward swing and a follow-through
• Overhead service


  -The act of serving the ball by tossing it overhead and striking it above the head level.
• Service


  -it is the act of putting the ball in play by hitting the ball toward the opponent's courtside.
• PASS

  • it is also called reception.

  • can be underhand or overhand, with dig as the underhand pass and the toss or set as the overhead pass
• DIG PASS


  -The process of hindering the ball from landing on the court's ground when the opponent performs a strike or an attack.
• BLOCK


  -The act of preventing the opponent's attempt to strike or attack.
• BLOCK


  performed by jumping in front of the attacker by extending the arm and preventing the ball from crossing over the net
• SET OR TOSS


  -The act of putting the ball into a position where the attacker can strike the ball hard toward the opponent's court.
• ATTACK OR SPIKE 


  The act of striking the ball with full power above the net.
• A playing court is a rectangular measuring 18 meters in length and 9 meters in width surrounded by a free zone of at least 3 meters in width.
