Give 3 weaknesses of this theory (briefly!)?
only explains forgetting when 2 sets of info are similar
some research lacks mundane realism
further research for other explanations of forgetting
give a weakness of the interference theory?
it really only explains forgetting when two sets of information are similar.
this doesn't happen that often so can't explain many other examples of forgetting in real-life.
give a weakness of the interference theory?
Some research such as ABEL AND BAUML can be criticised as lacking MUNDANE REALISM as it is laboratory based and therefore uses artificial tasks such as learning word lists, rather than real-life scenarios
give a weakness of the interference theory?
there is further research for other explanations of forgetting such as cue-dependent forgetting, so this cannot be the ONLY explanation
