  Cell wall:

  • STRUCTURE: Surrounds cell membrane and made from cellulose fibers.
  • FUNCTION: Strengthen the cell so plants can remain upright

  Vacuole:

  • STRUCTURE: Contains cell sap
  • FUNCTION: Gives the cell its shape
• PLANT CELL

  Chloroplasts:

  • STRUCTURE: Found in green plants and contain chlorophyll
  • FUNCTION: trap light for photosynthesis
• ANIMAL CELL

  Nucleus:

  • STRUCTURE: Contains DNA
  • FUNCTION: Controls what the cell does
• ANIMAL CELL

  Cytoplasm:

  • STRUCTURE: Jelly-like structure
  • FUNCTION: Where the chemical reactions take place
• ANIMAL CELL

  Membrane

  • STRUCTURE: Surrounds cell
  • FUNCTION: Controls what enters and leaves the cell
• ANIMAL CELL

  Nuclear Membrane

  • STRUCTURE: Surrounds the nucleus
  • FUNCTION: Gives the nucleus its shape.
• BACTERIAL CELL

  Contains:

  • A non-cellulose cell wall
  • No nucleus
  • Plasmids (bacterial DNA)
