• "This wizened earth has never troubled us" - Arrogant tone though nature is unpredictable
• "Can raise a tragic chorus in a gale" - personification demonstrates the power of nature
• "Spits like a tame cat turned savage" - simile, conveys how powerful nature is over humans
• "huge nothing that we fear" - ironic oxymoron
• Structure - iambic pentameter, enjambment and caesura make the poem uneven and chaotic like the storm, tone is arrogant and prideful
