  • What is the concept of social learning theory?
    The idea that we learn from others by watching and copying their behaviour (cognitive elements)
  • Models are more likely to be imitated if they are;
    > Same sex
    > Same age
    > Likeable
    > Attractive
    E.g. peers, teachers, family members
  • What are the four stages?
    1. Attention
    2. Retention
    3. Reproduction
    4. Motivation
  • What is attention?
    Observe the specific behaviour carried out by someone else (model)
  • What is retention?
    You remember the specific behaviour as an internal script of images
  • What is reproduction?
    Imitate behaviour performed by model in an appropriate situation/available opportunity
  • What is motivation?
    Repeat behaviour due to reinforcement
