  • Who does Marketisation advantage and why?
    It advantages the MC parents who are more likely to of succeeded in education themselves so have the knowledge and skills to choose the best school for the child (cultural capital - Bourdieu) It also means MC parents have the financial capital to be able to move to an area with better schools
  • What does an increasing parental choice lead too?
    An increase in social inequality
  • What can encourage labelling and SFP?
    Constant testing for SATs and exams can be stressful for pupils which can lead to labelling and SFP
  • What did Benn criticise about new labour, and what acts as a barrier towards the WC?
    He suggested hat the new labours policy to reduce class inequality were contradictory. Due to the introduction of tuition fees. This acted as a barrier for further education for many WC pupils
  • What tends to attract the best teachers?

  • What is meant by formula funding?
    Schools compete for customers (pupils and parents) meaning that over subscribe schools will silk shift the people who are most likely to achieve grade 4 and 5s+ in GCSE
  • What happens to liability students?
    Liability students such as WC boys will be silk shifted into sink hole schools. These schools under perform and are undersubscribed meaning they are underfunded and under resourced
