Hierarchy of taxa on scientific basis

• Arrangement of organisms into groups on the basis of the common characteristics is called classification.
• The scientific study on classification, identification, nomenclature and description of organisms. It includes placing groups of organisms in a hierarchical sequence.
• There are two methods of classification of organisms. They are;

  1. Artificial classification
  2. Natural classification
