Blood represents guilt in Macbeth all throughout the play, Shakespeare constantly comes back to this throughout the play, showing that it has a deeper meaning
"Bloody execution" (The captain re Macbeth A1S2)
This is foreshadowing the violence that is going to come in Macbeth
"WillallgreatNeptune'soceanwashthisbloodcleanfrommyhand? Nothismyhandwillrather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red" (Macbeth A2S2)
The Ocean is describing how the blood is not clearable, symbolising his guilt and how it cannot be washed away
"A little water clears us of this deed. How easy is it then!" (Lady Macbeth, A2S2)
It is showing how little guilt Lady Macbeth has about the murder that has happened in the play, this could later foreshadow the guilt that is going to happen to her.it could also link to regicide due to them killing King Duncan.
"I am in blood stepp'd in so far that, should i wade no more, Returning were as tedious as go o'er." (Macbeth A3S4)
This could symbolise the immense amount of guilt that he is in and how he cannot go back to the mental state that he was once in
