  • Who goes against Descartes?

    Kant
  • What are predicates?
    • explained through the example of analytic and synthetic sentences, predicates describe something about the subject
    • Kant says that Descartes and Anselm mistake existence for a predicate when it is in fact not a characteristic in itself let alone a characteristic of God.
    • existence is not used to describe an object e.g. we dont say "the table is brown, round and exists"
    • Anslem goes against this with his argument of God's necessity and that it only works because his existence doesnt rely on anything else.
