The rate of photosynthesis

• Lack of light

  -as light levels increase the rate of photosynthesis increases but at a certain point it wont make a difference

  -either CO2 or temperature will be a limiting factor
• Lack of carbon dioxide

  -only increases rate of photosynthesis to a point then flattens out

  -if there's enough carbon dioxide and light then temperature might be the limiting factor
• Optimum temperature

  -if temperature is too low enzymes work too slowly

  -if the plant gets too hot then enzymes are denatured
• Greenhouses

  -trap the suns heat so temperature doesn't become limited

  -artificial light can be used during the night

  -parffin heaters increase the levels of carbon dioxide

  -keeping plants enclosed gets rid of pests and disease

  -costs money
