Development of the Periodic Table

• The periodic table displays all of the known elements. 

  A row of elements is called a period , while each column is called a group
• Elements within the same group have similar chemical properties
• The atoms of elements in the same group have the same number of electrons in there outer shell
• The atoms of elements in the same period have the same number of shells
