Cards (21)

  • Direct Relationship:
  • Can be represented by a function in the form of y = kx, where k≠0.
  • Linear equation with the y intercept equals 0.
  • Line goes through the origin.
  • As "x" increases, "y" increases proportionally.
  • On the graph you see a straight line.
  • Direct Proportionality can be written as: yx (y is directly proportional to x)
  • Equation may be written as: k= y/x (y divided by x)
  • Inverse Relationships:
  • Work oppositely.
  • Usually a curve/sloping down.
  • Inverse Relationships: Equation
  • Inverse can be expressed as: y ∝ 1/x (Y is directly proportional to 1 over x)
  • y = k/x, where x and y are the 2 quantities, and k is still the constant of proportionality, telling how much one varies when the other changes.
  • ∝ = Directly proportional
  • Types of Graphs:
  • It is more effective to use trend lines instead of connecting the dots, since line graphs present changes for a short period of time.
  • Trendline: Shows the general direction as a whole (Progression/regression).
  • Connect the dots: They show slight, small (And sometimes insignificant) changes in the data.
  • Measurement is a technique in which the properties of an object are determined by comparing them to a standard.
  • The act of determining a target's size, length, weight, capacity, or other aspect. There are a number of terms similar to "measure" but which vary according to the purpose (such as "weight", "calculate", and "quantify"). People sometimes make tools to change the measurements of items.
