  • What is journalism?
    The world journal comes from Latin ‘diurna’ which means “daily”.
    News is an abbreviation of the four general directions. (North, East, South, West)
  • SCOPE OF JOUNALISM
                Journalism may be divided into three:
    Written - Periodicals such as newspapers and magazines fall under written journalism
    Oral – Radio Journalism/Broadcasting
    VisualTelevision News Channels
  • A newspaper, as compared to a magazine, prints more news, has no special cover, and is printed on a special paper called newsprint. News is printed on the front page, as well an on the inside and the back page.

  • Magazines on the other hand prints more feature, and human-interest stories, has a special cover usually with a big cut on it, and is often printed on bookpaper. If even news is printed, it is brief, featurized, and found on the inside page.
  • Periodicals, brochures, journals and books are classified under print media.
    Radio falls under oral journalism, while television, movies and documentaries, are under visual journalism.
    Radio and television are examples of broadcast media, while movies and documentaries are examples of film media.
  • Responsibility in journalism means to deliver news without bias or personal inclination.
  • Journalists must always be aware of their responsibility to write the truth, no matter what the cost.
  • Journalists must be brave enough to confront the facts and truths behind the news.
  • The main responsibility of journalists is to tell the truth about all issues, and journalists are responsible to the general public, not the company.
  • Truthfulness and accuracy in journalism involve checking the accuracy of data and information before use.
  • Facts are the basis of journalism, so journalists should not obscure the truth by forging facts or publishing miscited statements or inaccurate statistics.
  • Freedom of the press should be protected by state media workers as a fundamental right.
  • In the pursuit of financial gain, the term "environmental journalism" refers to the pursuit of financial gain.
  • Media have the power to manipulate the judgement of the general public.
