migration from rural to urban

• intra state migration usually occurs from the rural countryside to urban and developed cities.

  eg: Bihar, UP ,MP.to Delhi and Mumbai
• the primary reason for migration from rural to urban is job oppurtunities because cities are in a forever need of labour
• labourers earn their wages on a daily basis but lead to overcrowing and unhygenicliving conditions
• most contractors do not provide proper shelter and washrooms and so areas surrounding construction sites are often overcrowded this leads to increase in crime value
• they live in temporary settlements,huggis or huts
• these places remain dirty and overcrowded but may see the blossoming of the different food habits, arts and crafts. Many of these develop into small businesses as new food forms are introduces in the cities
• In mumbai, many Nepalis and Bangladeshis live and earn their livelihood.This is interstate migration from neighbouring SAARE countries
