• 1971-2012: average age of birth of first child 28.1 (rise by 4 since 1971) 
• ¼ of those born in 1973 will be childless as they reach 45 
• Reasons: 

  1. 28% of 25-34 yr olds marriage before parenthood 
  2. More options for women reflected in older age of first child
