    Dyspnoea that develops in REcumbent Position and is relieved by sitting up or elevation of head
  • MECHANISM
    • Day- gravitational effect fluid balance occur : loss of intravascular fluid into interstitial space.
    • Horizontal position, edema returns to vascular syetm increasing venus edema.
    • Failing Left ventricle, unavle to handle extra volume of blood
    • Results- Increase Pulmonary Venous and Capillary Pressure.
    • Leads to pulmonary interstitial edema and decreased airway compliance
    • Along ith elevated diaphragm, decrease vital capacity.
  • orthopnea causes
    • Acute Left heart Failure
    • Extreme degree of CCF
