P1.2

Cards (5)

  • Describe how masses conserved when substances melt ,freeze ,evaporate, condense or sublimate
The number of particles don't change during change of state the arrangement does this means masters doesnt change
  • differences between physical change and chemical change
In physical change the states just change the elements dont . Reversible but chemical change new products are made - the reactions are irreversible
  • Describe how heating a system will change the energy stored from the system/raises temperature or produce change of state
Heating changes energy stored from within the system by increasing the energy of the particles that make the system this either raises the temperature of the system or makes a change of state
  • Define specific heat capacity and specific latent heat and distinguish between the 2 and what

Specific heat capacity is the amount of energy need to raise the temperature of one k g of a substance by one degree Celsius. Specifically latent heat is the amount of energy need to change the state of one kg without changing its temperature
  • To calculate the energy change involved
Apply the relation change between the internal energy of a material- Mass ,specific heat capacity, and temperature change
