data distributions

    Cards (3)

    • normal data distribution - symmetrical spread of frequency data forming a bell shaped curve. the mean, median and mode all occupy the peak of the curve
    • negative skewed distribution - peak of frequency curve shifts to the right. the mode is the highest peak, then the median and then the mean. - this type of distribution may be shown by an easy test where many people score highly
    • positive skewed distribution - peak of frequency curve shifts to the left. mode occupies the highest peak, then the median then the mean. - this type of distribution may be present on a very hard test where many people score low
