• Wavelength is the distance from one point to the next corresponding point in a wave
• To measure the wavelength of a transverse wave, you go from crest to crest or trough to trough

  
• To measure the wavelength of a longitudinal wave, you go from rarefaction to rarefaction or compression to compression
