  • 5000 BC Where Mesopotamian Civilization arose. We credit them for creating a writing system, mathematics, and as well as religion.

  • The Roman collapse (in 500 ad), this is the start of the Medieval Times. There were two sides of the Roman empire, the political and the chruch.
  • 500 to 800 ad is the Dark Ages, this applies to the whole Medieval Period.
  • Its called the Dark Ages because people where more focused on survival since there were wars, famine and pandemics. No advancement of culture nor scientific knowledge whatsoever.
  • 800 ad forward was the Renaissance era. This is where Charlemagne of France rose to power. This is also where The monastic cathedral started their plan to rise to power.
  • Universities were not made in the Renaissance era simply because knowledge was lost during the Dark Ages.
  • But miraculously, the Monks of the Chruch was able to retrieve lost scrolls coming from the Greeks and Romans that now, they were able to start universities since they have now a basis of knowledge for higher learning.
  • When the Church was in control of knowledge, they combined Faith and Knowledge. The church placed its credibility by citing science and their faith together.
  • The modern era (1500) This is where the scientific revolution came into play. To prove and scrutinize science as a whole. This is where Science became objective, with no connection to the faith.
  • During this time, Galileo Galilei was put under house arrest for his belief that the sun revolves around the earth instead of the other way around.
