Musical Forms

• 1.Unitary Form

  =Has only one section.

  =It is usually a short song and has only one verse.

  =It has the symbol A which represents the only verse in the song.

  =Unitary = 1 Verse = 1 Melody.
• 2.Strophic Form

  =Greek word - strophe - turning.

  =Keeps the same Melody for all the stanzas or verses.

  =Only the words change.

  =AAA song.
• 3.Binary Form

  =The binary or AB form refers to a composition made up of two contrasting melodic ideas.

  =A song in the binary form is composed of two different sections, A and B.

  =The two different letters represent two different contrasting melodies. A as the main section and b as the contrasting section.

  =It is commonly used in western classical music.
