  • the parliament consists of the house of lords, the house of commons and the sovereign (king)
  • the house of commons is ellected, it has 650 members
  • the house of lords consists of a non-specific amount of members. It has 3 groups: 1. the clergy (=geestelijkheid), 24 bishops and archbishops of the Church of England. 2. law lords (= rechtelijke macht) +-20 senior judges. 3. aristocracy (=adel), heraditary and life peers

  • a life peer is appointed by the sovereign

  • the fight between catholics (want their own country) and protestants. the protestants celebrate winning the battle of Boyne, which often results in fights
  • the IRA (irish republican army) is catholic
