  • Christianity is not true: miracles + resurrection are impossible; Jesus' exclusive relationship with God does not make sense
  • Christianity is not moral: people must take moral responsibility, rather than referring to revelation or God; they obey God without freely exercising moral choice
• use of historical religion makes Christianity "irredeemably sexist" + "fascist"
• Hampson does credit that the Christian myth has served as a vehicle which has carried peoples' love for God in the West
• God should not be seen as 'out there' + anthropomorphic
