If the resultant force acting on an object is zero then either:
Object is stationary and remains stationary
If object is moving, it continues to move at a constant speed in the same direction
If there is no resultant force on a moving object, itll just carry on moving at the same velocity. For an object to travel at a constant speed, there must be zero resultant force
Newtons second law says:
A non-zero resultant force causes an object to accelerate
If the resultant force acting on an object is 0, the object is equilibrium
Equation for resultant force
Force = mass x acceleration
N = kg x m/s^2
Equation for weight:
Weight = mass x gravity
Acceleration and mass are inversely proportional - as mass doubles, acceleration halves
