• Genre of order also links to Todorov's narrative structure- where there is a form of disruption to the equilibrium which needs restoring, it also links in with propps character types theory where a hero is often required to resolve conflict with a villain
• in the genre of order theory the macho male heroes' goal is to reinstate the social order that has been undermined by the threat to the setting of the story eg the community under threat in the old lawless wild west
• This reinstatement of order is achieved by a lone hero from outside the community through violence(pistols)and often self sacrifice(death).
