  • Living standards and lifestyles of youth:
    • Those who lost savings in 1923, failed to regain the high living standards
    • Those dependent on benefits were less well off but due to welfare system they weren't in poverty
    • Living standards improved for millions of Germans between 1924-28
  • Gymnasium schools were highly selected and provided excellent education and after 6 years go onto an apprenticeship
  • Realschule schools are children who weren't permitted into gymnasium schools and after 6 years go onto apprenticeships
  • Elementary schools were the results of weimar education reformers and its the first 4 years of education and if you fail gym or realschule you stay another 4 years
  • The 3 types of youth groups are: Wandervogel, Church youth groups and political youth groups
  • Wandervogel:
    • First group set up in 1896 by a Berlin schoolteacher
    • Spent most time out in nature
    • Mainly consisted of middle class boys
