  They only contain single C-C bonds e.g alkanes
• What are unsaturated molecules?

  They contain double C=C bonds e.g alkenes
• Definition of structural isomerism:

  Structural isomers are compounds with the same molecular formula, but different structural formula e.g butane and 2-methylpropane
• Definition of a homologous series:

  A series of compounds with the same functional group, with each successive member differing by a CH2 unit
• What are aliphatic compounds?

  Organic compounds arranged in straight chains, branched chains, or non-aromatic rings
• What are alicyclic compounds?

  Aliphatic compounds arranged in non-aromatic rings
• What are aromatic compounds?

  Compounds containing a benzene ring
