  variable that is measured, effected by IV.
• Operationalising variables

  description of a variable given in terms of how its given in terms of how its measured. Specific measurement of DV.

  e.g. Boys will have a higher teacher rating of aggression than girls.
• Extraneous variables

  effect everyone e.g. time of day, noise, heat of room.
• Confounding variables

  effect one or a few participants e.g. homelife.
• Situational variables

  things on environment that may cause effect.
• Participant variables

  differences between people.
• Experimenter effects

  how researcher may influence results
