    Binds to & inhibits angiotensin receptor 1 (AT1) → prevents angiotensin II from binding & exerting its hypertensive effects (vasoconstriction, stimulation & synthesis of aldosterone & ADH, cardiac stimulation, reabsorption of Na+) → reduced BP, lower aldosterone levels, reduced cardiac activity, increased excretion of Na+
