  • Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of communication.
  • Media and information technology play a vital role in globalization. Through these, we become connected to different people around the world. These have a significant influence on the modern culture and become tools in sharing information, ideas, personal messages, and other content and have become more widespread and accessible.
  • Information Literacy Refers to the abilities to recognize when information is needed and to locate, evaluate, effectively use, and communicate information in its various formats
  • Literacy The ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed and written materials associated with varying contexts
  • Technology (Digital) Literacy The ability to use digital technology, communication tools or networks to locate, evaluate, use and create information.
  • Media refers to the physical objects to communicate with such as radio, television, computers, etc.
  • Information on the other hand, refers to the processed data, knowledge from a study, experience, instruction and symbol. Literacy is the term coined for the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, compute and communicate using printed and written materials.
  • Media is described as the channels or ways in which we transmit or communicate messages, which are referred to as communication tools.
  • There are three major kinds or types or categories of media: print media, broadcast media, and new media.
  • Print media is a category of media consisting of paper and ink, often reproduced in a printing process that is traditionally mechanical in nature.
  • Text media is a type of print media that is a simple and flexible format for conveying ideas, whether handwritten or printed, including words, phrases, sentences, and even illustrations.
  • Visual media is a type of print media that appeals to our sense of sight, including pictures, photos, images, and graphics
  • Typography is the art and technique of arranging the visual component of the written word, which is the lines forming letters, words, and sentences
  • Graphic design is the process of visual communication, communicating via vision or via the sense of sight, organizing and presenting information creatively for a particular purpose.
  • Broadcast media reaches target audiences using airwaves as the transmission medium, including radio and television
  • Audio media is a type of broadcast media that uses audio or voice recording as a medium in the delivery of information to appeal to the auditory sense.
  • Media convergence only occurs when communication content and computing merges into one.
  • Websites that serve as a repository for huge and vast amounts of information, such as wikis or blog sites, are examples of new media.
  • Digitized print ads or advertisements across different platforms are examples of media conversion.
  • Media convergence is the merging of different equipment and tools for producing and distributing information through digitization and computer networking.
  • Multiplayer online games are also an example of new media.
  • News agencies such as CNN, Inquirer, are examples of media convergence.
  • Augmented reality is another example of new media.
  • Social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, etc., are products of media convergence because they allow users to perform several different tasks.
  • New media integrates the different technologies emerging on one digital platform to organize and distribute content, including computers, the internet, and others.
  • Digital access refers to the ability to fully participate in digital society. This includes access to tools and technologies, such as the internet and computers, that allows for full participation.

  • Netiquette is a set of rules about the proper and polite way to communicate with other people when using the internet.
  • The term "netiquette" was coined by Virginia Shea in her book The Internet Etiquette Guide (1993).
