  • He had to grow up fast due to his father passing away. At 16, he was the man of the family.
  • When he was 16 it was the time of Civil War in Rome, and his uncle was in the middle of it. His uncle granted him the position of high priest of Jupiter. Caeser was also married to the daughter of his uncle, Lucius Corenelius.
  • At the age of 41 he was elected senior Roman consul, a position he gained with the help of 2 friends. He and those friends would form what is called the First Triumvirate.
  • The first triumvirate consisted of

  • He did not want anyone to know about the alliance between his two friends so they could benefit from the union. They wanted to become powerful together and take advantage of it.
  • To start, the first thing Caeser had in mind was to involve redistributing the public land to some of the poor people in Rome. If anyone was against this, he said force might be used. The two men in the triumvirate agreed and people became aware of the alliance.
  • Julius was successful in his first idea however his enemies grew in the ranks of Patricians. They believed that he was a popular danger to the wealthy elite. However, they said they can't do anything about it because he is loved by the people of Rome.
  • He was still not a rich man after his power grew and he had debts to pay. He was aware that money could be made through military campaigns so he looked toward the region of Gaul. He then conquered many parts of Europe. After he came back, he gained a ton of power.
  • After Caeser came back to Rome he became dictator. He did so many things in favor of the lower classes leading the wealthy people to get very angry.
  • He had won over many of the people becoming known as a mighty leader, but his power and reforms made many of the wealthy elites want him to be dead, so they plotted to assassinate him.

    • Caeser was called to the Senate where he thought he had matters to deal with.
    • Senators grabbed him and pulled him to the ground then proceeded to stab him.

    • When Caeser's soldiers begged him to turn back because they thought they will get easily defeated Caeser said he was ready to fight with only one leg necessary.

    • Caeser gave the workers a ton of favors. Example: He gave then a holiday when he became dictator, free food, bought tickets for people to watch events in the Colosseum.

    • They believe he is the most dangerous man Rome has seen because he does not care about poor people. He is only giving favors to gain their support and power.
