CO Basics

• Cardiac Output:

  • CO is the volume of blood ejected per ventricle per minute
  • SV is the volume of blood ejected per ventricle per contraction
  • CO = SV x HR
  • CO = 70 ml x 72 bpm (average)
  • CO = 5 litres per minute
