  • replicability - when an experiment or scientific procedure can be done again and produce similar findings. must have standardised procedures for this
  • falsifiability - theories are not classed as scientific unless they can meet the possibility of being proven untrue
  • objectivity - scientific studies or theory should not be influenced by personal biases
  • empirical methods- scientific approach that gathers data or evidence through direct observations or experiences
  • hypothesis testing - theories should produce statements that are testable
  • theory construction - process of developing an explanation for the cause of behaviour by systematically gathering and organising evidence
