• Thin and delicate sheath surrounds the organism
• Central axis shows dark-staining nuclei when stained, arranged in 2 to 3 rows conspicuously
• Cephalic or anterior end is blunt or round
• Posterior or tail end culminates at a point that is free of nuclei
