• homeostasis: the regulation of internal conditions in the body
• homeostasis maintains the optimal conditions for enzyme actions and all cell functions
• In the human body,homeostasis includes the control of blood glucose,body temperature and water level
• receptor:detects stimuli (changes in the environment). For example,light sensitive cell in the eye or pressure sensitive cells in the skin.
• co-ordination centers: such as the brain or spinal cord,receive and process information from receptors.
• effectors: muscle or gland which brings about a response. This could be to restore optimum conditions or to move the body away from danger.
