  • House of Lords Act 1999
    Lords to more accurately reflect society. Smaller and more diverse House with less conservative dominance
    It is now easier to remove non-attendees and lords are more involved
    It is still an unelected chamber
  • Constitutional Reform Act 2005
    The Act set up the Supreme Court and abolished the appellate jurisdiction of the HOL
  • House of Lords Reform Bill 2012
    Further attempt to have an elected HOL but it was abandoned by the government and was not passed
    Some would argue it has resulted in the same outcome
  • Succession to the Crown Act 2013
    Amended the provisions of the Bill of Rights and the Acts of Settlement
  • House of Lords Reform Act 2014
    The right of peers to resign from the HOL
    More democratic - section 4 states that those who have resigned can stand / restand as MPs
