prokaryotic cells: single celled organisms which lack a nucleus and membrane bound organelles
eukaryotic cells: multicellular or unicellular organisms with a true nucleus, membrane-bound organelles, and other structures not found in prokaryotes.
nucleus: a type of organelle; houses the vast majority of the cells DNA
transcription: the process of copying the DNA into a single strand of RNA
translation: the process of converting the information in DNA into a sequence of amino acids
