  • 1st amendment the freedom of speech and of the press, assembly, and petition.
  • 2nd amendment the right to bear arms.
  • 3rd amendment no quartering soldiers
  • 4th amendment - prohibits unreasonable search and seizure
  • 5th amendment: guarantees the right to a grand jury, forbids “double jeopardy,” and protects against self-incrimination.
  • 6th amendment: right to a speedy trial, right to confront witnesses, right to have an attorney
  • 7th amendment: protects the right for citizens to have a jury trial in federal courts with civil cases where the claim exceeds a certain dollar value.

  • 26th amendment - 18-21 year olds can vote
  • 27th amendment:any law that increases or decreases the salary of members of Congress may take effect only after the next election of the House of Representatives has occurred
