  • Rizal was not the first to be referred to as the "Tagalog Christ." Apolinario de la Cruz (1815-1841) and Filipino revolutionary Felipe Salvador (1870-1912) were also known as the "Tagalog Christ" and the "Filipino Christ" respectively
