  • Delusions- A belief that is clearly not true
  • Hallucinations- Perceiving something that isn't true. It can be visual and auditory
  • Thought insertion - the belief that their thoughts are not their own
  • Thought broadcasting - The belief that others know your thoughts
  • Flat affect- A severe reduction in emotional expression
  • Apathy - Lack of enthusiasm, interest and concern
  • Neologism- Speech that doesn't make sense
  • Catatonic behaviours- extreme loss of motor skills or extreme hyperactive motor activity
  • A positive symptom is one that adds a behaviour thought or feeling
  • A negative symptom is one that takes away a thought, behaviour or feeling
