Instrumental music of Mindanao

• Kulintang ensemble - palabunyibunyan which means ensemble of loud sounding instruments
• Kulintang - set of eight knobbed gongs arranged from smallest to biggest or lowest to highest pitch
• Agung - gongs that hang from a horizontal pole

  high pitch - femal, low pitch - male ; represents women and men working harmoniously
• Dabakan - is a goblet-shaped drum has a single head covered in goat, snake and lizard skin

  provides steady rythm
• Gandingan - set of 4 graduated gongs with thin rim and low central knob

  with 1,2 which are low pitch gongs and 3,4 which are high pitch gongs facing each other
• Babandir- small gong with thin rim and small central knob

• Kudlung - two stringed lute made of wood, one string for the melody, one string for the drone
• Kudyapi - two stringed fretted boat lute
• Gabbang - bamboo xylophone
• Suling - smallest bamboo flute of Maguindanao, the only one classified as a " rain flute "
