     Cultural deprivation theory (socialisation, beliefs, attitudes, knowledge, values, parents attitudes) some lack the right kind of culture needed to succeed in education.
    -ethnicity- attitudes and values,
    -ethnicity- family structures and parental support.
    -Class- speech codes.
    -Gender- literacy/reading
    Material deprivation theory (to do with money or resources) some lack the material wealth or resources needed to succeed in education,
    -class- housing,
    -ethnicity- more likely to be working class due to discrimination
    -gender-girls less likely to achieve due to patriarchy
