Ditching

• to separate raft from aircraft:

  • ensure mooring line attached
  • raise girt flap secured by metal studs
  • pull separation handle on girt bar sideways
  • cut mooring line with knife or pull quick release handle
• "If I am not okay"

  • harness
  • lay on floor
  • open door if clear and water is not above door sill
  • tell 2 people to crawl to ends and tell people to follow and 2 people to tell people to sit with back to edge
  • take me with you
  • if raft doesn't inflate pull red cloth handle
  • to separate raft from aircraft follow the printed instructions on the raft
• Commands:

  hear "brace, brace"

  • heads down feet back
  • this in an emergency. evacuate, evacuate, evacuate
  • open seat belts, get out, leave everything behind
  • stand back wait
  • 2 crawl to end of raft and call people towards you, 2 crawl to end and get people to sit with their backs against the side of the raft
  • come this way, inflate life jacket, crawl to the end
• Check cabins but do not enter
• 3 types:

  • short notice
  • no notice
  • planned

  safety demo with

  • seat belts
  • life jackets (use real one ad do not inflate)
  • safety card
