• Cancellous: spongy, with many spaces throughout.
•  osteoblasts: active bone-building cells
•  osteoclasts: cells that reabsorb bone
• osteocytes: mature blood cells
• Cortical: dense, smooth, and compact.
• Synarthrosis: no movement; suture of the skull.
• Amphiarthrosis: limited movement; the pelvis.
• Diarthrosis: complete movement; knee, hip, elbow.
