• a product is something produced by a chemical reaction
• reactants are the substances that react together to form products
• the symbol O stands for oxygen
• the symbol H stands for hydrogen
• when writing equations, use arrow to show which way the reaction goes
• to balance an equation, make sure there are the same numbers of atoms of each element on either side of the equation
• the symbol C stands for carbon
• the symbol N stands for nitrogen
• the symbol S stands for sulfur
• You can change the rate of reaction by changing the concentration, temperature or surface area or by adding a catalyst
