Typhoons - planets most ferocious storms. Known as CYCLONES in Australia and HURRICANES in Atlantic ocean
typhoon comes from the word TAI FENG which means "great or big wind"
Hurricane comes from the word HURACAN which means "STORM"
36 to 63 km/h - TROPICAL DEPPRESSION
64 to 117 km/h - TROPICAL STORM
more than 117 km/h - TYPHOON
more than 220 km/h - SUPER TYPHOON
Tropical cyclones have - spiral rain bands, eye wall, and eye
The spiral rain bands surround the eye
Eye - are with the lowest air pressure and its wind speed is also low. Served as a reference point in plotting the typhoons location.
Eye wall - surrounds the eye, where the severe weather occurs. innermost ring of convection near the center of the typhoon, packing the fiercest rains and most intense winds.
Spiral rain bands - found outside the eye wall, long bands of clouds and thunderstorms that spiral out of the eye wall. "also referred to as "buntot ng bagyo"
how typhoons are formed?
Typhoon start as tropical thunderstorm. the strong wind pull in moisture from the oceand
Thunderstorms will convert into moisture into heat.
All the heat and air flow toward the eye creating the typhoon
