  When specialists are brought in, the complexity increases.
• What does a post production supervisor do?

  Main line of communication between Producers,Editors, Director, post Sound, etc. Sets the post-process schedule, timed to accommodate the various hand-offs (conform, audio, VFX) and ensure delivery requirements are met. Note: Post Super is not the key of the editingdepartment
• What does online editor do?

  Conforms the offline proxy edit to high quality source media.
• What does a colourist do?

  though a colourist may have input on the dailies colour correction their primary job is the final grade, or look, for the picture
• What do VFX do?

  Creates final composites and visual effects.
• What does a dialogue editor do?

  conforms the stereo mix offline to the original multi-track source then cuts the best possible audio takes (sometimes words) together.
• Foley / SFX?

  Generates original sound effects or finds suitable sfx
• What does composer do?

  creates original music score for the production, as opposed to a Needle Drop which is pre-recorded music that needs to be licenced by the Music Supervisor
• What does audio mixer do?

  combines all of the audio elements together and sets appropriate levels, creating the“mix”.
• What does the ADR recordist do?

  Responsible for replacing dialogue that could not be recovered by the dialogue editor
• What is compositing?

  The layering of images to create a sum is better then the parts image. It has at least two images
• What is an alpha channel?

  A greyscale image that controls the transparency of an image layer. Isolate objects, mask a background, and blend images together.
